KNIGHTS ON BIRDBACK!
How on earth did you fall into this bizarre world? Look around you -- the sky is filled with knights astride enormous armored buzzards. These characters look mean, and the buzzards they ride don't look very friendly either.
--From the Atari 2600 Joust instruction manual.
Get on your giant buzzard and pick up your lance for this high flying battle. Fly around and battle your enemies by being higher then them when you collide. Be careful though, if you lose, you die. Don't forget to grab the egg after they die, or a stronger opponent will appear. So "En Garde," and let the Joust begin.
This game was a huge success when it was released in 1983. Kids would go down to the local arcade and spend quarter after quarter trying to get the high score. This game was so popular that the NES remade it with better graphics in 1987.
You play a buzzard-riding knight who has set out to battle other buzzard-riding knights. Fly around from platform to platform and play chicken with your opponent. The higher Jouster wins the face-off. Grab the eggs after they die or a stronger opponent will appear, also eggs help in raising your score. If you spend too much time trying to defeat the other Jousters, the Dragon will appear and try to kill you. Beware, there is no way to kill the dragon. With only four lives to play with, be sure you're at the top of your game.
